It's that time again!! Let the randomness begin!

• I'm typing this as I sit on the front porch watching the clouds roll in. YEAH for rain! Last week was in the 100's almost every day, so this rain is much much hoped for. Darrell has been planting grass in our front yard so we need some rain to help the little sprouts grow too. You should see the little jig he does everytime he sees new sprouts on the ground. It's hysterical!

Speaking of Darrell, he's going to be having orthoscopic knee surgery in two weeks. It is anticipated that he will not be released to work for 8 weeks. Wow. That's a long time. Thank goodness he'll be getting paid a large percentage of his weekly pay while he's off work. I'm kind of glad that I have to go to work during that time, or we'd probably drive each other crazy, LOL!

This past Sunday we went out on the boat with a bunch of friends and family. Good good times, but I seriously look like a lobster. Still. When we got home from the lake, we walked into a hot, still house and immediately looked at each other and said, "Shit! There's no air!". The ac had gone out, so we all spent a lovely Sunday night already burning up from our sunburns, but also from having no ac. I took off work on Monday to deal with the situation, and luckily found a local company who came out right away. They had to replace the blower motor, which set me back a pretty penny, but it certainly could have been worse.

Since today was my first day for my work peeps to see my lovely red skin tone, I tried to refrain from being a smart ass. But by about the fifth time someone said, "Someone got some sun!", I had to really bite my tongue to not say, "Nope, it's just a new shade of paint I'm trying out. Wanted to see if I liked it before I painted the whole house. Here's your sign!" :)

I'm really happy these days. We've been going through some struggles in our marriage lately, but as of right now, I'm feeling pretty good about things. A lot of that may be chalked up to the fact that my hubby is currently in the kitchen whipping up some dinner. A man in the kitchen always makes me happy:)

I hope everyone else is having a good week as well. And if I don't get a chance to post again before this weekend... have a wonderful Fourth of July!

Random Thoughts Tuesday: Hokey Pokey

• Just sitting here watching American Idol. (I think I begin every RTT post that way.) Danny is fixing to start singing one of my favorite songs of all time, "Come Rain or Come Shine". I have sang this song to my husband for years and years. I don't know why i've never done it for a show??? Could someone who reads this PULEEZE remind me to sing it the next time I'm in the ASS?
• I guess I should clarify for any reading this who suddenly think I have a booty fetish, LOL. One of my fave divas here in OKC hosts a monthly show called The Alison Scott Show, which we have lovingly shortened to the ASS. We like to throw it into random conversation such as, "When are you gonna be in the ASS next?" or "I love being in the ASS" or "I made SO much money in the ASS"!! You get the drift.
• Gokey just killed my song. I wanna do the hokey pokey with Gokey.
• My hubby seriously looked at me tonight and told me to get off my butt and make dinner. Yes. He really did. I hope he was joking, I really, truly do. Cause all that made me do was turn up the volume on the TV, nestle further down in my comforter and get to typing this post. I'm sorry-- I wrote our vows and I'm sure the words "I swear to be your bitch for all time" were NOT in them.
• Tomorrow night I'm heading to the big T-Town (Tulsa, OK for those not familiar with the Okie lingo) for the Jason Mraz concert (opener- Plain White T's). And of course, I'm totally jazzed about it. I am wondering how to get a song request in to Jason though. When I saw him in October, he sadly did not sing my favorite song of his-- possibly my number two favorite song of ALL TIME! And for me to say that, well... you know it's amazing. If he doesn't sing it tomorrow, I think I may cry. Truly.

Random Tuesday Thoughts: I'm Not Even a Popstar

• Ryan said "Abdul drool" tonight on AI. I'm totally stealing that line. Don't know when or how I'm going to insert it into daily conversation, but I'll find a way.
• Went out Saturday night with the crew. And wowzer. I am WAY too old to partay like that. (BTW, I say that every single time I go out. That, and, "I will never drink again". You see how well that works out!). Started the night with a delicious dinner (and beers). Moved on to a friend's house for conversation (and beers). Then joined up with the hubby for some pool (and beers). Are you seeing the pattern here?? Me and my headache stayed in bed till about 3 the next day. That will prove to you that I am not making it up when I say that "I am not a rockstar". As my loving friend DeAnna said, "Jess... I don't think you're even a popstar".
• While recovering from the night before, we watched a bunch of movies on Sunday, including "Beerfest" which made me nauseous as hell the entire time I watched it. WTF was I thinking??
• My little baby girl went on her first school field trip today. They traveled to the zoo and of course, her favorite part of the whole trip was the bus ride. She thought that was AWESOME!
• My sweet son has decided to start busting out inappropriate song lyrics. The most recent example is "I like big butts and I can not lie...". I blame it all on Shrek. If he had learned it from me, I would have at least taught him the acoustic stripped down version.
• I wish there was a dinner fairy that would visit my house every night. I really hate having to come home and figure out dinner after a long day at work. Especially in the summertime, my appetite drops and it's hard to get excited about cooking a full meal when I'm not even hungry. My kids have learned to make a mean PB&J, LOL!
• Oh, I almost forgot! I finally watched Twilight. I read the books long ago and I had such high hopes for the movie... but nope. I spent the first twenty minutes thinking how stupid Edward was acting. Like the scene where he puts his hand over his mouth and rushes out of the classroom? Fo reals? Nice acting there, Robby. I'm going to watch the commentary version though and see if it changes my opinion any. I bought the damn thing, so I'm hoping it grows on me. Like a fungus. Like Abdul drool. HA! Told ya I would do it! I know it didn't make sense, but it still made me giggle:)

Random Tuesday Thoughts

I get so excited about blogging on Tuesdays-- it's means I can get out all this CRAP that is in my head!! So let the crap flow:

• I'm watching Idol. I've been an IdolWhore since the beginning days of Season 1. Kris Allen (or however you spell that extremely common, but difficult to spell name) is about to sing Falling Slowly. God, how I love this song! Ok.. it's over.. and I knew I was crushin' on him for a reason. FANTASTIC!
• Busy weekend ahead of me. I'm a team captain at work for the American Heart Association HeartWalk which is this Saturday. We lost one of our attorneys to a sudden heart attack this year, and a fellow secretary had a massive, yet thankfully, non lethal heart attack just a few months ago. We're so glad she's still with us to walk this year. (Technically she'll be cruising on one of those cool Segways - which I'm totally jealous of:)). Then Saturday night we'll be rockin' it out for my boy Shannen's birthday party. I can't wait to get my dance on! This little white girl doesn't have much rhythm but I sure do try:)
• My husband (that is normally such a sweetie) said the most hateful thing to me last night. I'm not even going to repeat it here... trust me... there would be some girls up. in. his. face. What is it with men??? If roles were reversed and I had said this particular thing to him, he would have smooth walked out, I can promise you that. I acted as if I hadn't heard him clearly and I said, "What did you say?" and he of course, said, "Nothing.. never mind.". I was like, 'Um, yeah, that's what I thought." (insert extremely sarcastic tone here).
• This new show Fringe flips me the f' out. Gonna have to change the channel.

I guess I don't have as much randomness as I felt like I did, LOL! Think I'm gonna go watch Twilight... FINALLY! Can you believe I still haven't watched it?? Have a great week everybody!

Random Tuesday Thoughts

It's that time again!!

• I was SuperMom today, if I do say so myself. After working what seemed to be one of the longest days in the history of long days, I took the kiddos to the park, then out to dinner (Long John Silver, for those who are interested- that's how we roll, matey.). To top of the evening, we spent almost two hours at a little carnival that is currently residing in the parking lot of a strip mall near our house. Lots & lots of fun.
• Have I mentioned that I live in el barrio? Seriously. We, being Caucasian, are definitely in the minority in our area of town. We rock it Southside, Mexicanville. But I'm cool with that for quite a few reasons- 1)my kids will likely be bilingual by the second grade 2) where else in this city can you have your own personal ice cream man not driving, but actually pushing his very own ice cream/refrigerated/box thingy down the street?? 3) you can get some seriously good food around here AND lots of interesting finds at the grocery store. I truly love the cultural mix we are surrounded by.
• My sister just bought a red washer/dryer set. I'm insanely jealous:)
• On the ride to school this morning, I suddenly heard my son start singing "Don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me?". And yes, I was very proud at his grammatical correctness. Proud that he didn't say "dontcha" which truly offends my ears.
• The new Martina McBride album came out today. I love love love me some Martina, and I personally think this is her best album in years. It's available for listen here if you want to check it out.... http://music.aol.com/new-releases-full-cds/#/2. I especially recommend track 5 "I'm Trying". This song was originally recorded as a duet between Diamond Rio & Chely Wright. I adored the song then, and almost started crying when I saw that Martina had released a version. And to top it off, it's an acoustic, stripped down version. In my world, it doesn't get much better than that. In the bridge, she sings, "...not a day goes by that I don't curse myself and all my sins.. Then he dropped down to his knees, by now they both were crying. He said I haven't been the man I want to be.... but I'm trying." Lyrical perfection.
• My daughter is the klutziest person I've ever encountered. Tonight, she literally fell over while standing still. Seriously. Right onto her little butt. How does she do that???
• I just noticed I've been using the word "seriously" a lot lately. What's up with that? Seriously?!

My randomness is complete for the night. I am going to go curl up with "Eat, Pray, Love". I've been overcome with an intense urge to reread this wonderful book. (Thanks, Cyndi, LOL!!) Hope everyone is having a good week.

Random Thoughts Tuesday

Here I go again, jumping on the Random Thoughts Tuesday train....

* My neighbors across the street are cleaning their garage out and piling stuff on the curb. Do you think Jr. would notice if he came home and our garage was empty? I'm really tempted to ask the neighbors if they are for hire to do the same to our house.

* I started to watch Chocolat today, and suddenly had the brilliant idea to watch "Under the Tuscan Sun"...again. For about the fiftieth time. I LOVE this movie. Has anyone else read the book? One of my favorites of all time as well. (Side Note: Has anyone else noticed that Kate Walsh and Sandra Oh play the lesbian couple in this movie?--I wonder if some big Grey's Anatomy producer saw this movie.)

* I am so ready for Saturday. Reason #1: Follow up appointment with the dentist so I can finally see the work that was done of my gums and see how it looks. I've been forbidden to pull down my bottom lip and sneak a peek at it before then. Reason #2: The kids birthday party is that afternoon and I'm really looking forward to watching them have an amazing time. Mom of the Year Award.. .here I come!!!!! LOL

* God, it's hot in this house. I don't want to bitch though. It's not often that you can open up all your windows, turn on the fans, and be sweating in March. I love this weather, but I absolutely refuse to turn on the ac this early in the year.

* I never thought I could crave Mexican food as much as I do right. this. very. second. Chips, salsa, jalapenos, lard-laden refried beans, fishbowls of Tecate with salt & lime... can you hear my stomach growling??

* This weekend Jalyn dubbed herself "Birthday Girl" and me "Gum Girl" (due to my dental surgery). So when the boys left to go somewhere on Saturday, she said, "Hey Mom.. it's just Birthday Girl & Gummer Girl in the house!". It seems that I've acquired another nickname.

* Salsa...enchiladas....

* I've been reading the newest J.D. Robb book. I find it funny that I don't usually enjoy books written under her real name, Nora Roberts, but I always love her J.D. Robb titles. What's up with that??

* Fajitas...shrimp cocktails...guacamole...

* I haven't seen much of my crew lately. I don't really know why that is, but it feels like forever since I've seen my friends. Boo.

Random Thoughts Tuesday

One of my favorite bloggers, Sam, at myacuprunnethover.typepad.com, posted a fantastic meme today called Random Thoughts Tuesday (that she borrowed from a favorite blogger of hers... you know how the cycle works.). And let me tell you... THIS is an idea I can get behind. My blogs are so random anyway, but this is a nice reason to purposefully be random. So let the randomness begin!

* I keep changing my template on my blog simply because I can not find one I really like. They are all so boring and don't fully reflect my personality or what it is I want to say (whatever that is, LOL).

* While I was tanning for my wedding last summer, I walked out of the tanning salon, looked to my right and was staring right into the hoo hoo of a girl lying in a tanning bed. Apparently, she had laid down in the bed and NOT CLOSED THE BLINDS ON THE WINDOW (the window that was on the outside of an office complex-- so all the business people on their lunch break got a free show). I have no concept of how you could NOT notice that you were on view for the public---but either this girl didn't notice, or she just didn't care. I did go in and tell the receptionist that they might want to go inform her of the peep show she was providing, but only after I text messaged my husband. Imagine the look on his face when he got that message:) He, of course, reminded me that my phone has a camera. Oops. My bad;)

* I could eat noodles with soy sauce and pepper on it for dinner all the time, but my family won't let me.

* I truly love the fact that I am teaching my kids to love wonderful music. No Barney for us... we rock the car ride to school with Pink. There's nothing better than hearing your kids sing "I'm still a rockstar.. I've got my rock moves...". It's a beautiful thing.

* I am amazed by the things people wear on American Idol. They have stylists that actually have them wear spandex pants? WTF???

* I function best early in the morning and late at night. Anytime between, oh say... 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.-- just worthless.

* This is apparent by the title of my blog, but it must be said, yet again, since it is a random thought going through my brain right now. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to read. Other than quality time spent with my family, my favorite place to be is in bed, on my heating pad, curled up in my favorite comforter, and a good book.

* The other day I caught my daughter walking down our hallway singing, "Bom chicka wow wow". My son has sang this many a time, but hearing it come out of the mouth of my sweet little blonde angel was rather disconcerting. And really funny.

* When I hear a new song on the radio, the first thing I think is "Would this be good for a show?" or "What could I wear to sing this one?". I create elaborate costumes and performances in my head that unfortunately, never quite translate to real life.

I could go on and on.... but hey, there's always next Tuesday!!
